Research in Community Health Centers Purpose of Community Health Centers: We have constantly asked: What services and resources are required to impact the health of the individual communities we serve? Where will we obtain the resources we need? All community health centers ask the same question.

17. Research in Community Health Centers Why is this important? There are more than 1300 community health centers across U.S. and its Territories. CHCs serve more than 23 million patients in more than 9,000 locations CHCs patients are typically underserved consisting primarily of uninsured or underinsured, and low income individuals. CHCs will not turn anyone away because they cannot pay. A sliding fee scale is available for those who do not have the means to pay their bill. Yet, CHC’s are expected to provide high quality of services
