2 Cornell Notes How to take notes
Name Date Class Period Cornell Notes How to take notes Write your name, date, class, and period in the upper right hand corner (see above). Write the topic of the notes (ex. WWII, Cells, Nouns, etc.) on the top line (see above).

Name Date Class Period Cornell Notes How to take notes Page setup Draw a horizontal line about five lines up from the bottom. Draw a vertical line about 1/3 of the way from the left side.

4 Name Date Class Period Cornell Notes First step is to complete notes on the right side. These notes may include all or some of the following: Key concepts & ideas Important dates/people/places Repeated/Stressed Info Ideas/brainstorming written on board / overhead projector Info from textbook/stories/class discussion Diagrams & Pictures Second step is to complete notes on the left side. These notes should include all of the following: Vocabulary (defined and/or importance explained) Main Ideas Key Questions- answered or pointed to.

Mountains 4. climate- mild and wet Government was a kingdom Last king was Tarquin the Proud- overthrown for harsh ruling. People then decided they wanted a govt. “by the will of the people”

Summary - review notes as soon as possible and write a summary in your own words. The Summary should include: Main ideas from the beginning, middle and end of your notes. All of your vocabulary words used in context. New important information you learned or know will be on the test. about the main ideas. Are there any gaps in your understanding? (see next point) Questions for the teacher. Doodles - down here they won’t get in the way of the important stuff. Summary, questions, doodles
