5 Alan WatsonIntroduction to C4, 07/06/015 Introduction to Fourth Year You already have a wide range of skills and a solid knowledge base in: Physics Mathematics Computing Experimental techniques Now you are going to put these skills together in a major project. The well- funded research programmes in the School give you access to the latest equipment and to top-flight research teams. The Critique is your opportunity for an independent critical study leading to a major dissertation. TiP goes here

6 Alan WatsonIntroduction to C4, 07/06/016 Introduction to Fourth Year Equally you will be hearing in lectures about Frontier Physics from people who are actually doing it. Small informed classes mean the lecturers relish questions and interchange. It is in your interest to make best use of this situation.

7 Alan WatsonIntroduction to C4, 07/06/017 Introduction to Fourth Year You obtain comparability with other European qualifications, which is advantageous for taking employment elsewhere in Europe. The year also counts towards Chartered Physicist status. In practical terms, you will be able to walk into a research lab and perform usefully right away. If you go on to a PhD programme, you hit the ground running.
