Purity in Marriage

 How many television programs depict a happily, holy, married couple?  How many movies celebrate loving and stable marriages?  How often do media present abstinence until marriage as the norm? As desirable? As possible?  How glorified is divorce? Homosexuality? Pre-marital sex? Affairs?

 Genesis 2:24 -- For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

 Proverbs 5:15-18 -- Drink water from your own cistern, And fresh water from your own well. Should your springs be dispersed abroad? Streams of water in the streets? Let them be yours alone, And not for strangers with you. Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice in the wife of your youth.

 1 Cor. 6:13, 18-20 -- Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body…. Flee immorality…the immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

 The practice of the wicked  Romans 1:24-27  God gave them over to their lusts  They worshiped the creature (the flesh?)  Women behaving lewdly with one another  Men burning with passion for other men  Committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error..

 Romans 1:26, 27 – “…their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural…men abandoned the natural function of the woman….

1 Cor. 7:2-5 --But because of immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband. The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

 Eph. 5:11-12 -- Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.

 Ephesians 5:3-4 -- But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. No HINT of immorality

 1 Thes. 4:3 -- For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality;

 1 Peter 2:11 -- Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.

 Hebrews 13:4 -- Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

 “You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.”
