8. LonWorks is a proprietary local operating network communications technology introduced in 1990 by Echelon Corp. It was developed to serve the residential, commercial andindustrial markets. LonWorks can communicate at high speed over numerous media including powerline carrier (PLC), twisted pair (TP), coax cable, fiber optics, RF and Infrared.
