OMA-TP-2003-0430Slide #2 [OMA-Template-SlideDeck-20030826] Purpose Provide Background Information for all OMA WGs Written by Enterprise IT people to convey a contrasting perspective from the consumer market Enterprise IT can be viewed as mini-ISPs that combine the functions of an operator, an integrator and an application developer Contains some Enterprise IT expectations for the successful partnering with members of the value chain needed for the delivery of mobile wireless business solutions. Needs of Enterprise IT differ from those of the general consumer market and have not been widely considered in OMA

Enterprise IT has all the concerns of a mobile operator with direct responsibility for end user success Enterprise IT at large companies think alike and have similar rules of engagement – can come to a consensus on preferences and engagement guidelines It is difficult to bring something new to Enterprise IT without understanding their concerns with specific solutions and without understanding their current environments.

Harsh scrutiny for actual proven business value, for compatibility to current environments, for information security, and for ongoing maintenance costs. Enterprise IT is interested in vendors who understand complete solutions. Summarises IT perspectives on mobile wireless. Provides a list that can be used as a starting point and is not intended to be a complete listing. Detailed contribution is in OMA-TP-2003-0413. We recommend that the content of this contribution will be used as background for the development of requirements and subsequent specifications in OMA satisfying enterprise mobile wireless needs.
