12. Abbreviations  Uses full name first occurrence with abbreviation in parenthesis. Then use abbreviations ONLY for all subsequent uses: – “He attended Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 1923. Though it was tough, OCS taught him…When he looked back at OCS…”

Structure  Introduction: – Make your argument (thesis statement) and introduce your topic sentences.  Body Paragraphs – State your 1st topic sentence and defend it. – State your 2nd topic sentence and defend it. – State your 3rd topic sentence and defend it. – Etc.  Conclusion – Restate your thesis and recap your 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd points and restate your argument. – Insightful closing
