4 4 Florida’s Differentiated Accountability Model Consolidates Title I Schools, non-Title I, and Charter schools in need of improvement (SINIs) Differentiates schools into five categories based on a combination of school grade and percent of AYP criteria met

6 6 Other Methods of making AYP Safe Harbor Growth Model

7 7 Safe Harbor Applies only to those subgroups not meeting Reading and/or Mathematics targets The percentage of non-proficient students must be decreased by 10% from the prior year in the subject being evaluated. The subgroup must make progress in writing proficiency and graduation rate.

8 8 Growth Model Applies only to those subgroups not meeting Reading and/or Mathematics targets through the Status Model or Safe Harbor Three-year growth trajectory based on students previous scores compared to proficiency at a later point in time

9 9 Five School Categories Prevent ISchool directs intervention, District assists State monitors Correct IDistrict directs intervention State reviews progress Prevent IIDistrict directs intervention and provides assistance Correct IISchool and District implement state- directed intervention InterveneSchool and District implement state- directed interventions and face possible closure

Has the percentage of non-proficient students in mathematics increased or stayed the same (failed to improve) since 2003? Are 65 percent or more of the school’s students non- proficient in reading? Are 65 percent or more of the school’s students non- proficient in mathematics?
