2. Getting Started… The goal was to raise the awareness of quality and patient safety issues in health care We organized few meetings and presentations Our chapter received a SEED grant from NCSU to spearhead the internship program for students interested in health care improvement

3. Here is what we have done to expand the knowledge of members and tackle improvements in health care: ─Run summer internship programs  Reduced discharged time for minor patients from 82 to 45min  Engaged physicians, nurses, technicians to make improvements Activity

Community Integration We developed a relationship with the following local health care organizations ─Rex Healthcare ─North Carolina Hospital Association ─North Carolina Office of Rural Health and Community Care Rex healthcare and UNC Radiation-Oncology sponsors summer internships We plan to expand our internship program by working closer with NC Hospital Association and NC office of rural health. We plan to further spread and integrate via certification program provided by Industrial Extension Service at NCSU.
