3 Day 1 Terms of the Day 1. Financial- having to do with money 2. Financial Management- how you manage your money 3. Financial Goal- something you wish to accomplish related to your finances 4. Banking services- those services a bank offers – checking, savings, certificate of deposit, money markets, etc. 5. Deposit- putting money into your account

4 Terms of the day 6.Withdrawal- to take money out of your account. 7. Balance- the amount you currently have in your account 8. Transaction- can be either a deposit or a withdrawal 9.Post- write it down in your check book 10.Signature- cursive version of your name

5 11. Check Register- Section of checkbook where you post your transactions and balance. 12. Non sufficient -Insufficient Funds- Bounced Check-Cold Check when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a withdrawal. 13. Endorsement- Signing the back of a check you have received to allow the bank to cash it.

6 Terms of the Day 14. Interest- the amount of money you are paid for allowing a bank or someone else to use your money. 15. Investment- putting your money into something in order to make it grow.

7 Terms of the day 5 16. Certificate of Deposit- A banking service that draws more interest, requires a set amount, and requires you to leave in bank for a set time. 17. Savings account- A banking service that draws a small amount of interest, has no early withdrawal fee, but does not allow you to write checks

8 Terms of the Day 18. Money market- banking service that is similar to both a checking and savings account. Draws interest and allows you to write a minimum number of checks. 19. Checking account- a banking service that allows you to write checks to pay for expenses. Does not draw interest.

9 Terms of the Day 20. Broker- Someone who sells stocks 21. Shareholder-Someone who owns stock; 22. bonds- IOU ; you are the lender to a company or the government

10 Terms of the Day 23. Stocks- owning a portion of the company. 24. mutual funds- pooling money with a group of investors to invest in a variety of stocks,bonds, and cd’s 25. NASDAQ- an index of stock prices that is a good indicator of how the stock market is doing.

11 Terms of the Day 26. budget- a plan for spending a saving 27. vary- to change 28. income- money coming in 29. expenses- money you pay out for goods and services.

12 Terms of the Day 30. Fixed expenses- those expenses you agree to pay at the same time each month. 31. flexible expenses- those expenses that can vary in amount and payment each month. 32. vary- to change 33. prioritize- to put things in order of importance.
