7 Reflection on Inquiry

8 What is Inquiry? A teaching strategy that uses open-ended questions about a subject that fosters discussion in which meaning is created.

9 Why Inquiry? Inquiry-based instruction requires participants to use creative and critical thinking to make meaning from works of art. Inquiry-based teaching strategies pose open-ended questions to challenge participants’ thinking about art and art-making, as opposed to teaching strategies based on lecturing or giving directions. Using inquiry allows for multiple perspectives on art and life. From Theory to Practice: Translations Inquiry-Based Art Instruction: A Framework for Developing Creative and Critical Thinking.
