Advice for young students who are considering a career in psychology? Do well in school because there is a lot of schooling involved. If you do become a psychologist try not to become jaded but try to separate work and your personal life. No matter how many years you are practicing you will never have all the answers, each person has there own way of dealing with problems. You want to be involved with your patients enough so you care but you cant get to emotionally evolved, because you are not God.
Do you dwell on other peoples problems throughout your career? Well of course, some information can be hard to listen to and try to give solutions but mainly I try to help them through the problem and not let it affect my life.
Does your job affect your home life? Well, at times it is hard to balance everything from being a working mom. Sometimes I barely even see my kids or husband because I am so overwhelmed with other peoples problems. But I do my best to set aside a time for work and family.
