Stirring Up Your Gift: “Being A Blessing” (Part Four)

2 Timothy 1:6 – “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you…” Colossians 1:27 – “Christ in you the hope of glory.” Stirring up your gift: Being A Blessing

‘I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ lives in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20) Stirring up your gift: Being A Blessing

We see ‘God with you and in you’ through: 1) Mary the young girl who became the Mother of Jesus. 2) Joseph a slave who became the Prime Minister of Egypt. 3) Simon Peter the sinful fisherman who became an Apostle for the Lord. Stirring up your gift: Being A Blessing

1. Mary the young girl who became the Mother of Jesus. Matthew 1:21–23 “She (Mary) will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

2. Joseph a slave who became the Prime Minister of Egypt. Genesis 39:1-5 (NIV) “Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. Potiphar, an Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh’s officials, the captain of the guard, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him there. Vs 2. The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. Stirring up your gift: Being A Blessing

Vs 3. When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did, Vs 4. Joseph found favour in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. Stirring up your gift: Being A Blessing

Vs 5. From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the Lord blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the Lord was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field. Stirring up your gift: Being A Blessing

3.SIMON PETER THE SINFUL FISHERMAN WHO BECAME AN APOSTLE FOR THE LORD Luke 5:1-8 (NIV) “One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. 10 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signalled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” Stirring up your gift: Being A Blessing

God is with you and in you. He wants to bless you and make you a blessing to others. Stirring up your gift: Being A Blessing
