3 List of the criteria for a good standard (in order of priority 1: highest - 5: lowest) 1.Agreement via negotiation 2.Recognised by standardisation body 3.Applicable/viable 4.Availability 5.Support interoperability where appropriate 6.Standard to solve a real problem 7.Wideness of adoption Plus: Transparency; suit every party concerned; ease of use for consumers/end-users; added value to existing state of the art; room for flexibility when useful
