1 Mrs. Pratt’s 3rd-5th Grade Class Welcome, students!

2 Welcome to Our Class!  I will introduce you to our classroom.  If you have any questions during my presentation, please raise your hand and wait to be called on.

3 All About Me  My background  I grew up in Las Vegas.  I attended the University of Nevada, Reno and Fitchburg State College, MA.  My experience  I’ve been teaching for 20 years.  I have also taught 1 st through 3rd grade, as well as resource.

4 My Family  My husband  R ob  My daughter  Melanie  Our cats  Callie  Bailey Rob and Me Melanie CallieBailey

5 My Goals  To give you the academic and social skills you need to progress.  To provide a supportive environment in which learning is fun.  To help you make new friends and discover new interests.

6 Class Subjects  The subjects we cover are:  Reading  Writing  Math  Science  Social Studies  Language

7 Reading  Each student will progress in reading at their own individualized level.

8 Writing  We will cover:  Sentence Structure  Paragraph Writing  Letter Writing  How-To Writing

9 Math  We will cover:  Calculations  Time, Money, Measurement, Fractions  Calendar  Number Sense

10 Science  We will study:  Habitats  Human Body  Space  Magnets  Plants

11 Social Studies  We will study:  Continents  Countries  Holidays  Map Skills

12 Language  We will study:  Story Elements  Questioning Strategies  Oral / Written Expression

13 Classroom Community  Our classroom is a community. In our community, we have rules to help us get along with each other.  Our class rule is: RESPECT  Raise your hand if you want to talk.  Treat other as you would like to be treated.  Be on time and follow directions.  Share and help each other.

14 Homework  I will assign about 30 minutes of homework every night. This includes 20 minutes of reading.  Students will study addition / subtraction math facts every night.  Your homework packet is due on Friday morning.

15 Tardiness  School starts at 8:00 A.M.  If you aren’t in the classroom by the time the second bell rings, please check in at the school office before coming to class.
