7 Final DAF FHIR ballot package was submitted via the InM WG on December 7 th In case you were unable to sign-up for the formal January 2015 ballot comment pool, we have created a separate comment form on the wikipage for any community member to provide feedback directly to the DAF team – http://wiki.siframework.org/DAF+Standards+Harmonization+and+Implem entation#DAF%20FHIR%20IG%20and%20Profile%20Comment%20Form http://wiki.siframework.org/DAF+Standards+Harmonization+and+Implem entation#DAF%20FHIR%20IG%20and%20Profile%20Comment%20Form The DAF ballot package (FHIR IG) can be found here: – http://hl7.org/implement/standards/FHIR-Develop/daf.html http://hl7.org/implement/standards/FHIR-Develop/daf.html DAF is participating in the HL7 FHIR Connectathon at the January HL7 WGM between January 17 th -18 th 2015 – Participants are encouraged to register to test the DAF profiles http://www.hl7.org/events/wgm012015/?ref=banner – Ongoing work includes creating examples and getting ready for the Connectathon DAF Data Element Based IG Activities with HL7 7

8 DAF White Paper (Table 5.1) in Section 5 which outlines the candidate profiles including SMTP transport. – All of the SMTP capabilities have been identified as a Gap in the White Paper because there are no existing Query Models to work with an SMTP transport as part of the IHE portfolio. – DAF worked with IHE on Gap Prioritization after white paper was reviewed and there was no uptake in the IHE community to develop the necessary profiles/artifacts to fill the gaps using SMTP transport – Current DAF/IHE Document IG proposal leverages only existing profiles (XCA/MHD) to enable document access within and across enterprises using SOAP and RESTful stacks. DAF IHE White Paper Follow-Up 8

9 DAF Direct SWG was formed by set of community leaders and volunteers to examine how to apply/reuse Direct within the DAF portfolio. – DAF Initiative has been an advocate of proving substitutability of standards at the various layers of the stack and has always encouraged the sub-work group to create tangible artifacts – SWG created a new XML format to examine feasibility of querying Documents using a single composite query – DAF Initiative recommendation was to reuse the XDS metadata model since that was being used for Document access – Also initiated communication between SWG and IHE PCC so that if the SWG did create artifacts it can feed it back to IHE and get it approved as a profile – Group working on enabling Document Access using Direct stopped and no further activity was conducted on Document access. – SWG discussed possibility of examining data elements for Queries along with Direct – DAF Initiative recommendation was to reuse the Query Models/Query Results and other parts of the stack and just examine the feasibility of changing the transport – SWG decided to be on hiatus until the DAF WG completed the FHIR profiles – Current State: – DAF FHIR IG is published for ballot via HL7 and can be examined and reviewed by everyone including SWG – SWG can examine using Direct along with FHIR data models and vocabularies, although this is not a trivial task because there are no bindings currently for SMTP transport within FHIR. – FACA’s and industry experts leaning towards using REST and APIs as the model to extract data – SWG can produce tangible artifacts and make them available to SDO’s (HL7/IHE) for consideration of using FHIR with Direct or using XDS with Direct DAF Direct Transport Volunteer SWG 9
