5 Vocabulary 1)Population Distribution- the way that people are spread out in different places throughout the world. 2)Environment- surroundings 3)Irrigation- The use of canals, ditches, or pipes to move water to dry places. 4)Desertification- the long-term process in which fertile soil is changed into a desert.

6 Vocabulary 5) Drought- a period with little or no rainfall. 6) Migration- movement of groups of people from one place to another. 7) Urbanization- The movement of people from rural areas to cities. 8) Metropolitan- a city and all the suburbs and other population areas around it.
