4 Your Role- Your role – – Task 1. Identify areas in which you need assistance in educational research/ scholarship. – Task 2. Draft a research/scholarship agenda for the academic year. – Task 3. Identify areas in which you need assistance to improve/change teaching or assessment. – Task 4. Develop a three-month action plan that will allow them to attain #1 and #3. 4

10 Defining Authorship Substantial contribution to study conceptualization, design, acquisition of data, analysis and data interpretation. Drafting or revising the intellectual content. Final approval for publishing the work. 10

11 Violations of authorship Giving authorship out of respect or friendship to curry a favor or to enhance legitimacy of the paper. Two or more individuals putting names on other’s paper to increase productivity. Including work by others without providing credit via authorship or formal acknowledge. Papers written by others who are not listed as authors or acknowledged. Including PI’s name on paper without PI having made intellectual or substantial contribution. 11

22 Task #3. Identify your instructional needs Intellectual work is enhanced both by disciplinary scholarship and the scholarship on teaching the disciplines. Where do I need assistance to improve my teaching skills or how I assess student learning?
