1 What Would Jesus Text?

2 Texting Facts The average young person receives their first
cell phone by age 8 4 out of 5 teens have cell phones (that’s over 17 million) The average teenager sends 3339 texts per month. That’s approx. 110 per day (that number is up 8% from 1 year ago) 42% of teens say they can text blindfolded

3 57% view cell phones as the key to their social life
Second only to clothing, teens say, a person’s cell phone tells the most about their social status or popularity, outranking jewelry, watches and shoes. 24% of teens have been involved in some type of naked sexting

4 What is Sexting? The use of cell phones to send sexual messages, pictures, and videos as well as sending or receiving suggestive messages with sexual connotations.

5 “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight O Lord.”
Psalms 19:14

6 “When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts.

7 Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark
Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.” James 3:3-8

8 There are three things wrong with inappropriate words or texts.
1. Somebody usually gets hurt. 2. No matter how hard you try, you can never get it back. 3. God knows how to read. He sees your text before you type them.

11 Challenge #1 Will you commit to give God control of your phones and your texting? Will you commit tonight, that before you text that next message, before you hit that send button on your phone, to ask yourself WWJTXT? Will you commit to let the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart be acceptable in His sight.

12 Challenge #2 Can we raise awareness that our texting matters to God and to each other?

13 “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight O Lord.” ~ Psalms 19:14
