17 Wrestler of the Week Brad Stuwe  Coaches select a wrestler each week  Receive a dog tag & recognition on Facebook  Objective criteria: good partner, first tournament, first win, upset win, good sportsmanship, etc.

Brad Stuwe  It’s your club – get involved!  Board member positions available each year – please see a board member about open positions if interested  First opportunity for involvement – mat cleaning assistance needed – see Jason Z. for details  Volunteer hours – critical to the success of the club and our tournament

19 New Parent/Wrestler Orientation Jason Zitzmann  We’ve all been there!  Typical practice  Types of regular season tournaments: MN/USA Qualifiers - more competitive MN/USA Qualifiers - more competitive Open tournaments Open tournaments  Qualifiers “qualify” your child for entrance to the state tournament based on points (25 pts needed) (1) 1 st place finish is 40 points – qualifies for state (1) 1 st place finish is 40 points – qualifies for state (1) 2 nd place finish is 25 points – qualifies for state (1) 2 nd place finish is 25 points – qualifies for state (1) 3 rd place finish is 10 points – need 3 (1) 3 rd place finish is 10 points – need 3

20 New Parent/Wrestler Orientation  Club has “coach attended” tourneys – check Facebook weekly for updates. Ask for a coach prior to your wrestler’s match Ask for a coach prior to your wrestler’s match  Tournament uniform – Mat Club t-shirt, singlet, headgear, shoes, personal preference items (mouth guard, knee pads, etc.)  Keep wet wipes in your wrestler’s backpack  You can independently go to tournaments  Rule of thumb for # of tournaments – match your child’s age  Get to know your coaches & team techs. We will help talk you through tournaments & who’s attending  Ask other parents about tournaments & who’s attending  Practice behavior – If you’re in attendance, please help maintain discipline
