2 Step 1 Citizen Registration Process - Any citizen or group may register to receive CrimeWeb alerts via email, text device or web enabled telephone. - Registration is free of charge - Registration begins by going to the CrimeWeb site and clicking on the “register” link. 4 Step 1 Citizen Registration Process (cont.) - After completing the top portion of the registration page, users create a zip code profile by selecting the areas of the country from which they would like to receive alerts. - Users then select the type of alerts they would like to receive. - Once registered, citizens will receive alert notifications for any alerts entered by law enforcement that match the zip code(s) and alert type(s) selected during the registration process. 6 Step 2 Alert Creation - Any law enforcement agency may join the CrimeWeb Network. Upon completion of the registration process, law enforcement agencies are given a password which allows them to create and send alerts using the CrimeWeb Network. - These alerts are distributed by zip codes to registered citizen users. - Law enforcement may issue alerts to specific zip codes, a radius of up to 99 miles around a zip code or to all users located between two specified zip codes (anywhere in the United States).
