3 Translation 2006 Adoption of the Quebec Sustainable Development Act 2009 Adoption of the sustainable development action plan entitled Our culture a cornerstone of sustainable development, by the ministry of Culture, Communications and the Status of Women. To promote the integration of culture into sustainable development policies and processes, the Ministry will work on developing the Agenda 21 for Culture for Quebec. 4 Translation From development to sustainable development Integration of culture 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions Article 13: Parties shall endeavour to integrate culture in their development policies at all levels for the creation of conditions conducive to sustainable development… UNESCO, Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, 2005.

5 Translation Guidelines (…) outlining the principles to be followed and the objectives to be achieved to integrate culture into the sustainable development of Quebec society. Agenda 21 for Culture for Quebec will: Renew our understanding of the role culture plays; Create new ties between various sectors of society; Recognize culture as a key component of our societys development; and Strengthen the cultural sector. 8 Translation November 2010 to May 2011 Discussion Groups: 98 activities organized in 44 Quebec municipalities, with over 5,000 participants May 6, 2011 18 ministries and departments took part in an interministerial forum May 30, 2011 Over 200 people from all sectors of the society throughout Quebec took part in a national forum: The future of culture in Quebec: A commitment by all sectors of society Agenda 21 for Culture of Quebec Dialogue results
