Contributing to Our Environment in the Comfort of Your Own Home! By: Ashley Watts 31193 The Toxicity of Some Household Cleaners and Their Environment Friendly Alternatives!

Household Toxins Effect EVERYTHING! When they are disposed of into the environment in the form of air and water pollution they do not only come back to haunt us... They harm wildlife and our Earth too!

Of 2,983 chemicals used in personal care products found in our homes... 884 were found to be toxic. 778 can cause acute toxicity 146 can cause tumors 218 can cause reproductive complications 314 can cause biological mutation 376 can cause skin and eye irritations.

What Can We Do To Help? Purchase Green Chemicals! Green Chemicals are... Biodegradable Environmentally Safe Environmentally Friendly Halogen-Free HAP's-Free Low Global Warming Low Ozone-Depleting Low Vapor Pressure Noncarcinogenic Non-CFC Non-HCFC Nonhazardous Nontoxic Recyclable Nonozone-Depleting

How do we find Green Chemicals? Green Chemicals are usually a generic form of cleaner. They have on them a Green Seal of approval that marks their Environmental Responsibility. Here are some of the brands of Green Seal products. : GOJO Green : AFFLAB Green : EarthCare New Day : Total Green HydroPower :Green Earth : H 2 Orange 2 :EnviroPartrol

Making Your Own Green Cleaners! The 3 most frequently used ingredients are... Vinegar, Baking Soda and Lemons!

Vinegar !! Vinegar naturally cleans like an all-purpose cleaner. Mix a solution of 1 part water to 1 part vinegar in a spray bottle and you have a solution that will clean most areas of your home. Vinegar is a great natural cleaning product as well as a disinfectant and deodorizer. Use vinegar as a natural fabric softener. Add ½ cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle in place of store bought fabric softener. Vinegar has the added benefit of breaking down laundry detergent more effectively.

Baking Soda !! Baking soda is a sodium bicarbonate, a natural substance that maintains the pH balance. Baking soda neutralizes both acids and bases, so it actually eliminates odors rather than just covering them up. Baking soda can also act as a very mild abrasive cleaner perfect for removing stains from sinks, counter tops and even fine china. Again as a paste, baking soda is great for removing dirt and grime from the inside door of your dishwasher or the drum of your washing machine.

Lemons !! Lemons are acidic and can provide some antibacterial and antiseptic properties for cleaning. Clean copper-bottomed pots and pans with lemon juice. Cut a lemon in half. Dip it in some salt, and clean spots from your copper. Lemon juice acts as a natural bleaching agent. Put lemon juice onto white linens and clothing and allow them to dry in the sun. Stains will be bleached away.

Now that you know how to CLEAN GREEN... Keep an Eye out for those harmful cleaners and try to put our environment first. This Earth belongs to everyone and it is our job to take care of it!
