3 Job Search Engines Generally allow you to search by Keyword, Location (City state or zip) and by job category Posts tips for job searching, interviewing, career development, etc Can upload resume for employers to view

4 Exercise: We are now going to use a job search engine to look for a job Everyone open your browser and type in www.careerbuilder.com www.careerbuilder.com In the location box type in 43725 Notice the types of jobs and the actual locations that come up

5 Local Job Listing Sites Much like a job search engine but usually only lists local jobs Some allow you the ability to upload your resume, as well as posts tips for career development, interviewing, etc while others are strictly job openings with descriptions and contact information

6 Exercise: Now we are going to use a local job listing site to look for a job Everyone go back to your browser and type in www.guernseyworks.comwww.guernseyworks.com Go to the left column and click on job listings, then click on Guernsey County Notice that these listings are job openings in this area, with job description and contact info

8 Online Job Scams: Unfortunately there are a lot of online job scams that may look legitimate but can be dangerous (i.e. identity theft). Examples include: Work at home scams Government employment scams Secret Shopper scams

9 15 Helpful tips to follow : Dont pay a fee upfront. Most legitimate employment agencies dont charge unless they actually succeed in getting you a job, and often its the new employer who pays.
