Entering A Trade This is a tutorial on entering a trade in a portfolio.

To enter a trade, select the link above. To enter a trade you will need to know the Ticker symbol of the stock or mutual fund you want to buy. Note: Ticker symbols are not the same as the symbols used in most newspapers.

SAMPLE: This is a buy transaction for 155 shares of INTC (Intel) stock. You can check on the ticker symbol by selecting the link Ticker Symbol or check the current stock (fund) price by selecting Validate Ticker. After entering trade, select Preview Trade. intc 155 Click here to simulate trade

This is a sell order with a price limit. This entry means that the team only wants to sell MSFT if the price is not below the limit they set of $34.50. If it is below that price, the order will not be executed. HINT: Most trades are entered at Market price, in which case, the team will get the days (or current) closing price. Setting a Limit will work for any type of tradebuy, sell, short-sell, or short-cover. Setting a limit will only hold for that day. MSFT 325 34.50 Click here to simulate trade

After entering a trade, you will get a chance to preview the order to confirm it. Confirming a trade requires you to re-enter your password. This is a safety measure in the system.

This is a confirmation for the trade you made.

After entering a trade, it should appear in the Pending Transaction report within a few minutes. Students have the opportunity to cancel any order in the Pending fileuntil 4:00pm. (This option is not available in the Real Time Game.)
