In the next five years, technology innovations will change our lives  You will talk to the Web... and the Web will talk back  You will have your own digital shopping assistants  Forgetting will become a distant memory e-Commerce & enterprise applications

© 2008 IBM Corporation You will talk to the Web...and the Web will talk back.

www.dnserp.com © 2009 DNS 11 The Spoken Web from IBM Feel connected at all times. No longer will you be tied to a keyboard and a computer. Enable the underprivileged to create, produce, host and share information and services with others. Provide simple and affordable access mechanisms to let people use technology services and applications that are currently available only to computer users. Provide a cost effective ecosystem that enables users to create and sustain a community parallel to what the World Wide Web has done. The Spoken Web is the World Wide Web in a telecommunications network, and it will change how people create, build and interact with information and e-commerce websites – using speech instead of text. What the Spoken Web Can do for You… e-Commerce & enterprise applications

www.dnserp.com © 2009 DNS 12 You will talk to the Web...and the Web will talk back In the next five years (or earlier), you will be able to surf the Internet, hands-free, by using your voice – eliminating the need for visuals or keypads. Imagine being within a phone call’s reach from the ability to post, scan and respond to e-mails and instant messages – without typing. Or sort through the Web verbally to find what you are looking for and have the information read back to you – as if you are having a conversation with the Web. e-Commerce & enterprise applications

© 2008 IBM Corporation You will have your own digital shopping assistants.

www.dnserp.com © 2009 DNS 14 You will have your own digital shopping assistants In near future, shoppers will increasingly rely on themselves - and the opinions of each other - to make purchasing decisions rather than wait for help from in-store sales associates. Ever find yourself in a fitting room with all the wrong sizes and no salesperson in sight? e-Commerce & enterprise applications

www.dnserp.com © 2009 DNS 15 IBM is transforming the shopping experience Guaranteed Product Availability  IBM has teamed with Galeria Kaufhof, a division of METRO Group, to develop and install a first of a kind system to enhance customer service in one of its department stores in Essen, Germany.  ~ 30,000 articles in the men's fashion department have been equipped with ultra high frequency RFID tags.  Employees are using the system to find articles shoppers are looking for and to monitor stock to ensure that popular items are always available.  Devices in the store's fitting rooms recognize the tagged garments and display customer information such as price, fabric and care instructions. Coupons on the Go  IBM is piloting technology that enables retailers to recognize when shoppers are in their stores and send relevant coupons to their mobile phones. e-Commerce & enterprise applications
