MVL – Positioning Using the Advanced Locator to position the scanner of an MVL system is mandatory The logic behind the positioning for two scanners in a large silo is based on the following factors: –Maximal level of material and material shape at high levels –Location of peaks of material based on filling points –Cover the area bellow the filling point when the material is at high levels –Get the maximal coverage area when the material level is ~70% Consider internal movements and devices to fill and empty the vessel Available mounting options based on vessel and customer’s data May 2011APM Annual International Partners Conference8

MVL – Setting Full & Empty Calibration Full Calibration is in reference to the scanner's Z position When two scanners are installed at different Z positions, they must have different Full Calibration values Z position is calculated from the bottom of the vessel, Full Calibration is measured from the flange of the scanner. Scanner 1 is installed at Z1 position and configured for Full Calibration (FC1), same with the second scanner The calculation of Z position of the scanner minus the distance to the full calibration must be equal between all scanners If we put it into a formula it would be: Z1 - FC1 = Z2 - FC2 Same calculation applies to Empty Calibration May 2011APM Annual International Partners Conference10

MVL – Installation The Controller is provided with licensed Windows XP and have UltraVNC installed and configured Use a crossed network cable between the PC / Laptop and the Controller, connect the cable to Ethernet Port #2 Make sure the IP Address of the PC / Laptop used is configured with a static IP Address (under the network connections settings) Install and run UltraVNC on the PC/ Laptop connected to the ControllerUltraVNC Remote connect to the Controller using the UltraVNC The initial IP Address of the Controller in port #2 is: 192.168.99.99 The password for the UltraVNC is “apm” May 2011APM Annual International Partners Conference11

MVL – Configuration The 3DLevelManager is used to configure the 3DLevelScanners in the Multi Scanner System There are 2 options to use the 3DLevelManager: –From PC/Laptop (with TCP/IP connection to the 3DVision Server, using IP address of the Controller and TCP port 22221) –Direct from the Controller using the RS485 connection (the 3DVision Server application must be turned off before making the connection) Notes for configuration: –Both scanners should have the same configuration (silo geometry, filling/emptying points, full/empty levels, rates, linearization) –The scanners should only be configured with different locations and horizontal angles May 2011APM Annual International Partners Conference12

13. 3DVision Installation Microsoft.Net Framework 3.5 SP1 must be installed on the computers running the 3DVision Server and clients Install the 3DVision server application on a dedicated computer, when purchasing MVL system, the Controller is provided with 3DVision installed Install the client application on customer’s PCs Installation is made by a simple setup wizard Server application: –Always runs in background (make sure it is also located at the startup folder of Windows) –Multiple remote clients can be connected at the same time –Stores the history and logs of measurements May 2011APM Annual International Partners Conference13

15. 3DVision Server Right click on the server application icon at the task pane (bottom right corner) opens the following menu: Server Version – shows the version installed on the PC.
