2 History Founded December 4, 1906 Cornell University 7 Young, Smart African American Men Henry Callis, Charles Chapman, Eugene Jones, George Kelley, Nathaniel Murray, Robert Ogle, and Vertner Tandy Over 680 active Alpha chapters in the Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia, and the West Indies Famous members: Thurgood Masrhall, Jesse Owens, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

4 Goals Develop a comprehensive plan to address Internal Communication, Public Relations, and the overall Brand Management of Alpha Phi Alpha Effectively and efficiently manage membership intake, retention, training and development, and chapter operations Develop a set of operating policies and procedures to govern all aspects of Fraternity operations

5 Objective The objective of this Fraternity shall be to stimulate the ambition of its members. Prepare them for the greatest usefulness in the causes of humanity, freedom, and dignity of the individual. Encourage the highest and noblest form of manhood. Finally, to aid down- trodden humanity in its efforts to achieve higher social, economic, and intellectual status.

6 Audience The audience I plan to reach are from the ages of 18- 100 years old. The audience consists of all members of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.

7 Strategies & Tactics Nine to twelve month process Develop a set of operating policies and procedures to govern all aspects of Fraternity operations Alpha University should be focused more as for teaching and conveying policies of the Fraternity The fraternity must develop a brand management plan, marketing plan, internal communications process, public relations plan Membership intake process be changed by developing a process to attract, select and initiate members with outstanding academic, achievement, and leadership qualities

8 Calendar January Jan. 5-6 Retreat of the National Board of Directors in Baltimore, Maryland February Feb.1-15 Personnel Feb. 5-25 Education Foundation March General President establish Brand Management and Marketing Committee April General President establish Internal communications and Crisis Committee May General President establish Public Relations committee June Alpha University Program and Education foundation July Organizational Effectiveness August Membership Standards and Extension September Membership Standards and Extension Continued

9 Budget The Budget consist of travel,hotel, food, board of directors retreat,programs, booking buildings,seminars, Alpha University, and developing committees The grand total of the budget is $103,900

10 Evaluation Showing the importance of retreats, creating committees, educational programs, and taking responsibility for actions to improve Alpha Phi Alpha Continue to develop tomorrow’s leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for our communities
