2  NMHS partners with GACHE in 2010/2011 to expand our program to develop a college going culture within the school in an effort to increase the college-going rate.

3  We are part of the Appalachian District  The drop out rate for MCHS in 2009 was 3.6% (2008 – 7.6%)  The graduation rate for MCHS in 2009 was 70.8% (2008 – 62.1%)  Unemployment Rate – 12% (November 2009)  Median Income per Family - $42,155 (2000 Census)

4 Our Youth have historically low rates in:  High School Completion  College Completion  Standardized Test Scores

5  Committed to Developing a College-Going Culture  Committed to Increasing Rigor, Relevance, and Relationships  Committed to increasing Student Motivation and Achievement  Committed to Increasing Graduation Rates  Committed to Preparing Students for College

6  Reality Store  Career/College Fair  College/Technical Schools Visits  Teachers-As-Advisers  Transition Booklets for Each Grade Level  Career Development/College Preparedness through English Classes and CTAE  Professional Development

7 North Murray staff gathered in August to participate in professional learning to develop strategies to implement a “college-going culture”. The professional learning was prompted by the school’s mission/vision …to expose our students to opportunities that foster success and develop skills that will ensure career and college readiness.
