Renewable resources part2 Converting a school into running on solar powered energy Carmen Cabral 2 nd science 4-19-11

Solar powered energy Solar powered energy is the conservation of sunlight and electricity Solar powered energies use some special lenses and mirrors to tracking systems and conserving energy into one beam, it locates a large area of energy and puts it all into one small beam, to conserve the energy. We are going to turn TVHS into a large school that only runs of the solar powered energy. We are going to make TVHS run of the solar powered energy to restore the electricity and to make a better and more eco friendly environment, it prevents from, pollutioning and using to much electricity, which also harms the environment. Why use harmful electricity when you can work with your surroundings??

Building materials we will use When you build a solar powered school you will need solar cells, solar heating, and perhaps solar furnaces. Solar panels and to redesign the electricity using in the buildings to get them to start working by solar energy.

Changes to the school The changes that we will have to make is that we get all the solar panels installed and some geothermal collectors. The roof will be made up from very thick 10 inch walls and roofs of the school that secure the air and that secures into the school tight enough to hold just like a regular school would. The floor of the school will be made up of concrete slab which then has polystyrene. The heating and cooling of the ventilation will use a energy recovery heater exchanger so that the air transfers the heat to the incoming fresh air. Then a duct that utilizes the ducts makes fresh air all over the schools buildings. The bathrooms have ducts that pull air from the rooms while the others have ducts the make fresh air, all throughout the buildings.

Using solar powered energy advantages and disadvantages The advantages to using solar powered energy are that 1 non polluted air 2 is a good supplement to other renewable resources 3 it is an inexhaustible fuel source The good thing about using solar panels to power the school is that we can save up energy and save plenty of electricity that would have been wasted and the great advantage is that our school is located in Arizona which means that We get sun year long and sun equals plenty of solar powered clean energy. The disadvantages are 1 only certain areas of the world may provide the amount the solar power may need to power it. The large amount of solar paneled which means they have to make useful amounts of heat or electricity. Which means perhaps the amour of sun that hits in the solar panels in the school may not be enough to power the whole system of the school.

Changes made with T.V.H.S. In the Tonopah valley high school before: its power came from electricity and had all of the electrical wiring now each section of the buildings will be powered by solar powers and it will include all of its power from solar panels. The electrical wiring and bathrooms will run off from some of the solar panels and special underground wiring and tubing designed for solar powered energy.
