2 Introductions  PTO Mission  Board Members  Support the Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday classes

3 Room Parent Leader Responsibilities  Facilitate Communications Contact Information of each family in the class  School Communications  Teacher Communications  PTO Communications  Parent Teacher Conferences  Room Parent Scheduling and Coordination K – Grade 6 can assign 2 room parents Grade 7 and above – 1 room parents  Collect and manage classroom budget (i.e. teacher gifts, parties, Sports Day food and t-shirts, end of year student gifts)  Organize Sports Day Collect Applications and complete Excel worksheet Ordering Food and arranging T-shirts for students Coordinate Relay teams  Can co-share responsibilities (total of 20 Service Points)

4 Room Parent Leader Responsibilities (continued)  RPL can assign Group Leaders Treasury Sports Day Group Leader Other 5 Service Points each role (1 person per role)  Attend mandatory RPL meetings (strongly encourage designate) - deduct 2 service points per meeting missed  Saturday and Sunday RPL no longer need to submit Room Parent service points and parents no longer need to enter their Room Parent service points Wednesday RPL still need to submit monthly  Submit timely and accurate Service Points for Group Leaders at the end of the year Details and Email will be provided at year end

6 Service Point Policy  Service Point Deposit collected  15 service points required for one (1) student family and 20 service points for families with two (2) or more students  General guideline of one service point for each hour served  Must serve as Room Parent at least once per school year for each student enrolled (Mandatory for all)  Completion of service – deposit rolled over to next year, otherwise pro-rated deduction from deposit  Review Service Points-to-date on Sycamore system

7 Parent Volunteer Sign-up  Room Parent scheduling by RPL Parents do not have to enter Room Parent service points into Sycamore anymore (Saturday and Sunday classes) RPL do not have to submit monthly Room Parent service points anymore (Saturday and Sunday classes)  Regularly scheduled jobs are open on the www.sccca.us site under PTO > Volunteer Signup www.sccca.us  Sports Day volunteer signup also available now under www.sccca.us site under PTO > Volunteer Signupwww.sccca.us  Special events open 2 – 3 months in advance (announced in weekly announcements) Chinese New Year Celebration (Available Nov – Dec)

8 Service Point Opportunities for Parents  Calculated for entire student population that there are enough  Routine Volunteering Room Parent (maximum of 12 points) Room Parent Group Leader (5 points) – Treasurer, Sports Day and Party Planner PTO  Room Parent Service Point Team  Homework Club (1 point per hour served) – Native Chinese Speaker with functional English capabilities Administrative Support (1 point per hour served)  Traffic Control  Safety Patrol

9 Service Point Opportunities for Parents (continued)  Special Events (1 point per hour served) Chinese New Year Celebration Event  Service Points for each class participating Main Coordinator (i.e. 12 points) Assistants (i.e. 6 points each for two, 12 points for one, etc.) Points TBD depending on responsibilities required Sports Day (Date in April TBD) and Training  Support Team

10 Room Parent Responsibilities  Ensure safety and appropriate behaviors of the students during class and recess (includes accompanying younger students to restroom)  Assist teacher and maintain orderly learning environment  Set-up classroom as needed by the teacher and return classroom to same condition AV equipment desks clean white board remove trash into bins on each floor  Responsible for fulfilling obligation or find replacement
