A digital video camera to record input Hardware – Intel Pentium III processor or AMD athalon or equivalent 2 GB of available Hard Disk space Operating system software – Windows XP (w/ service pack 2 installed for version 2.1 of movie maker) Movie Maker Application Software (FREE) An internet connection to save & send to the web or via e-mail attachment Minimum system requirements:

25 Projects: Tour of your School This activity is a great way to introduce parents to the many different facilities of your school. It can be used for Back to School Night. The students will create a plan on which areas of their school they would like to film. The students will then use a camcorder to film the school. They will then import the video from the camcorder to an editing system (Movie Maker). They will then add sound to the movie. Finally the students will save their project onto a DVD. NJ. 26 Projects: Safety Rules Students will be taught a lesson on safety. The students will them write down their ideas of safety issues in the school. They will then take a camcorder and film each other performing safe choices at the school. The students will then import the film onto Microsoft Movie Maker. The students will then save onto a DVD. 27 Projects: The Scavenger Hunt The students will use this activity to learn how to control a video camera. The students will be given a list of camera moves to perform. After they have completed all the moves on the list they must import it to Microsoft Movie Maker and show it to the class for evaluation. The evaluation will be based on a rubric. 28 Projects: Animation Antics The students will be put into small groups where they will write a short story. Based on their stories the students will create small figures using assorted art media. The students will snap stills of the clay figures. The students will submit these stills into the Microsoft Movie Maker program. They will run the photographs quickly; add sound and music to create their original story movie. NJ. 29 Projects: Shakespeare and the Movies Students will have an in-depth study of Shakespearean literature. The students will then be interviewed on camera by their classmates. The students will explain each of the scenes in the play. This video was then submitted onto Microsoft Movie Maker. This video was used to help students better understand Shakespeare literature. 30 Projects: Write a Story The students will perform a play using an original script and characters. One student will be the director and another will be the camera person. The students will use props and costumes while they are acting. When this movie is completed it will be edited using Microsoft Movie Maker. NJ. 31 Projects: Community Helpers The students will create a movie depicting the many community helpers in the neighborhood. The students will use real props to create each helper: police officer, fire fighter, mail carrier, doctor, nurse, EMT etc. The students will describe the type of job they do and how they help us. They will edit this movie using Microsoft Movie maker. As a follow up maybe some real community helpers can visit the class and they can be included in the movie. NJ.
