Slide title 40 pt Slide subtitle 24 pt Text 24 pt Bullets level 2-5 20 pt prepared by Julio VeloEricsson ConfidentialUsing TEMS Investigation2006-05-027 Using TEMS Investigation Basic Information You can see the different available analyzes by click on the different worksheets. The first tab shows an overview of the RF conditions for an determined moment of the drive. There is not information because all the forms are linked to MS1 by default. For this drive the scanner was connected to MS1. We will change this setting later in the presentation

8 Top right corner for field-mark, customer or partner logotypes. See Best practice for example. Slide title 40 pt Slide subtitle 24 pt Text 24 pt Bullets level 2-5 20 pt prepared by Julio VeloEricsson ConfidentialUsing TEMS Investigation2006-05-028 Using TEMS Investigation Basic Information con’t On this worksheets you can see information related to packet such as throughput, session information and HSDPA RLC Throughput

9 Top right corner for field-mark, customer or partner logotypes. See Best practice for example. Slide title 40 pt Slide subtitle 24 pt Text 24 pt Bullets level 2-5 20 pt prepared by Julio VeloEricsson ConfidentialUsing TEMS Investigation2006-05-0211 Using TEMS Investigation Basic Information con’t In this screen is shown the information related to the scanner. You can notice that this worksheet shows more information than the previous one. This is because MS1 was used for the scanner and all the forms are associated to MS1 by default.

12 Top right corner for field-mark, customer or partner logotypes. See Best practice for example. Slide title 40 pt Slide subtitle 24 pt Text 24 pt Bullets level 2-5 20 pt prepared by Julio VeloEricsson ConfidentialUsing TEMS Investigation2006-05-0212 Using TEMS Investigation Basic Information con’t Finally, on this worksheet you can configure different options for the tool such as command sequence, event definitions and audio indicators. Additionally, you can set the celfile to be used with the drive test logs. A file with information about the cells on the driven area, such as azimuth, scrambling codes, etc, can be defined in order to simplifier the analysis

13 Top right corner for field-mark, customer or partner logotypes. See Best practice for example. Slide title 40 pt Slide subtitle 24 pt Text 24 pt Bullets level 2-5 20 pt prepared by Julio VeloEricsson ConfidentialUsing TEMS Investigation2006-05-0213  As you noticed in the previous slides, it is not easy to do an analysis with the default setting for TEMS.  However, TEMS investigation allows the creation/modification of worksheets and workspaces.  Each one of the worksheets in TEMS investigation can be customized.  Information from the different terminals can be shown in the same worksheet. In the same way, each worksheet can be customized to shown information from a unique MS.  More worksheets can be added (up to 10 tabs).  Existing worksheets can be deleted as well (not recommended) Using TEMS Investigation Working with Workspaces

14 Top right corner for field-mark, customer or partner logotypes. See Best practice for example. Slide title 40 pt Slide subtitle 24 pt Text 24 pt Bullets level 2-5 20 pt prepared by Julio VeloEricsson ConfidentialUsing TEMS Investigation2006-05-0214 Using TEMS Investigation Working with Workspaces cont’ One problem that you have noticed on the “Overview” worksheet is that is not showing too much information. That is because all forms are linked to MS1. That can be changed by doing right click on each form and changing the properties. A different MS can be selected. In this case the MS2 has been chosen for Active Set form. Please notice that the titles on the forms has not been updated. This applies to the next slides too. It says MS1 but is linked to MS2. The title on the forms is not updated automatically

Slide title 40 pt Slide subtitle 24 pt Text 24 pt Bullets level 2-5 20 pt prepared by Julio VeloEricsson ConfidentialUsing TEMS Investigation2006-05-0216 Using TEMS Investigation Working with Workspaces cont’ On the new worksheet you can add any form available on the presentation menu. There are five different submenus. GSM and WCDMA refer to information for each on those technologies. Signaling is about L2, L3 messages and mode. Positioning includes form related to maps. Finally, Templates is just some forms with non- predefined settings.

Slide title 40 pt Slide subtitle 24 pt Text 24 pt Bullets level 2-5 20 pt prepared by Julio VeloEricsson ConfidentialUsing TEMS Investigation2006-05-0217 Using TEMS Investigation Working with Workspaces cont’ You can different forms to a worksheet. In this case we are going to add forms related to Voice calls. We added the serving/active set. The mobile needs to be changed to MS2. We are selecting MS2 because voice call was recollected using that MS

18 Top right corner for field-mark, customer or partner logotypes. See Best practice for example. Slide title 40 pt Slide subtitle 24 pt Text 24 pt Bullets level 2-5 20 pt prepared by Julio VeloEricsson ConfidentialUsing TEMS Investigation2006-05-0218 Using TEMS Investigation Working with Workspaces cont’ This was done by using forms from WCDMA and Positioning submenus. Each form has been linked to MS2. The line chart was changed to include Ec/No information of the second chart instead of GSM info. The map was customized too. Finally, the workspace was saved by clicking on File\Save Workspace as…

Slide title 40 pt Slide subtitle 24 pt Text 24 pt Bullets level 2-5 20 pt prepared by Julio VeloEricsson ConfidentialUsing TEMS Investigation2006-05-0219 Using TEMS Investigation Analyzing Logs Before analyze the logs, let’s discuss the main elements that we can use for the analysis of the log using TEMS investigation. First let’s take a look of the Line chart This chart shows bars representing RSCP of pilots on the Active Set and lines showing the RSCP for the pilots of the measured neighbours and detected neighbours. Here is shown bars representing Ec/Io of pilots on the Active Set (1 st green,2 nd blue, 3 rd violet) lines showing the RSCP for the pilots of the measured neighbours (orange) and detected neighbours (red). This one illustrates the Ue TX power (blue), the SIR target (green, not available for Samsung) and SIR value (red). Finally, this chart reports the values of the pilots in the Active Set. It also show the strongest measured neighbours and detected neighbours. Additionally, you can see the speeds and time and for a particular moment of the drive

Slide title 40 pt Slide subtitle 24 pt Text 24 pt Bullets level 2-5 20 pt prepared by Julio VeloEricsson ConfidentialUsing TEMS Investigation2006-05-0220 Using TEMS Investigation Analyzing Logs cont’ Now, let’s review other elements such as Serving/Active Set + Neighbours, Radio Parameters, Events, BLER, and Layer 3 Messages. Service/Active Set form shows SC, Cell Id (if celfile exists), CPICH Ec/No and RSCP. The different colors for Ec/No and RSCP (green good, yellow so- so and red bad) represent visual indicator of the quality. The colors and ranges can be customized. This form shows key information such as Ue TX power, RSSI of the serving cell, Target SIR (upon availability), SIR, RRC state, RAT state and again. On this form, the different events that happened during the drive test are reported. You can click on them in order to get more details about them. The BLER% for the different transport channels is shown on this form Finally, this form provide information about the L3 messages. Again you can click on a message to get more details.

Let’s move the scroll bottom back to the first drop call and analyze it The cells in the active set are indicated by blue lines that go from the cell to the selected point. The service sector is painted on green (DXU0057Z). Additionally, in the Serving/Active Cell are specified as AS. You can see that the sector DXU3013Z is out of the Active Set window, that is why is removed later Before the last removal, RSCP was good and Ec/NO was acceptable You can get information about an specific point by clicking on the line chart. All the forms are synchronized.

Slide title 40 pt Slide subtitle 24 pt Text 24 pt Bullets level 2-5 20 pt prepared by Julio VeloEricsson ConfidentialUsing TEMS Investigation2006-05-0223 Using TEMS Investigation Analyzing Logs cont’ You can expand the map to see more details of the drop call. Notice that the cells in the Active Set do not look like the ideal servers. DXU4325W is closer to the Ue and should be a better server, at least, than DXU3013Z. It looks like DXU3013Y is over shooting.
