Genetic Engineering Javonni Johnson Class 2 Living Environment Environmentalist

Are Genetically Engineered Foods Damaging Our Environment ? Yes Because crops engineered can produce viruses. The Plants effected can effect of the plants as well. Crops and other foods that are genetically engineered can contain toxic substances that could harm its consumers. It Can Also Be Beneficial because its cheaper to be purchased. It improves their yield so people that's usually starving wont starve anymore.

What are the potential benefits of food biotechnology to the environment and to the issue of world hunger ? It produces enough food for everyone to eat It stops World Hunger because it reduces poverty levels in countries to make food less costly for the poor By using genetic engineering you can plant crops in places that they wouldn’t normally grow or is impossible to grow They can also be transported to other countries in the form of seeds Genetically engineered products can also be nutritional by changing the genes

What are the potential risk of food biotechnology to the environment and to the issue of world hunger ? The risk of food biotechnology to the enviornment is harmful because it can be toxic to the environment and the consumers. The herbicide genes from genetically engineered crops are now getting into natural grow weeds, Their cross breeding. The genes are transferred from the pollen that’s going around the air. The food that are genetically engineered can cause life threatening allergies to develop

Do the benefits outweigh the risk ? Yes the benefits do overweigh the risk of biotechnology genetic engineering. The benefits show that by producing food this way feeds people in need that need food. The food is low costing because the food is NOT natural. To make more money you can plant crops in any part of the world even if it was impossible to be grown there naturally. The risk explain how the food that is not naturally produced can be unhealthy for humanity and how it can have a negative effect on humans.
