3 Why Are We Doing an E-Newsletter for President Emmert? In response to feedback from business leaders that: – UW needs to become a better partner – We talk more than we listen – When we do listen we don’t always take action – Business leaders don’t fully understand the value of the UW to their businesses, the state, etc. Provide fresh content for the Business and Industry Web site: www.industry.washington.edu 3

4 Goals Build stronger relationships with business leaders across the state Motivate business leaders to support us with the Legislature Position Pres. Emmert as a fellow CEO Demonstrate UW’s business value Provide the Pres. a way to communicate back and forth with business leaders 4

8 Timeline E-mail first issue on February 27 Send quarterly: 6/12/07, 9/25/07, 12/11/07, 3/11/08, 6/10/08 Reevaluate frequency once we gather data 8

9 Technology Subscriber names will stored in the Advance database & tagged as subscribers The e-mail distribution software is Convio: – Can import subscriber data from more than one database – Creates HTML and text versions – Secure and well-supported on the back end – Can scale up to handle e-mail distribution from multiple units across campus – Used by University Advancement, UW Marketing, and UWAA 9
