1 Marketing Research to Planning ndary Research Nestle does can be put into two separate categories: secondary – research that already exists e.g. newspapers, internet, government documents such as official statistics, Budget, Taxation, monetary policy. and Primary mary Primary – Research that they do themselves such as questionnaires, interviews, focus groups

2 Marketing Plans SWOT analysis – This is when Nestle create a document which details their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and Threats. They can only create this SWOT by doing Market research and usually a combination of Primary and Secondary. Can you gives examples? If you want you can go on the net and research what SWOT analysis looks like and how it is made.

3 Marketing plans PESTLE Analysis – This is a document that looks at outside the business and lists what factors affect them in terms of politics, economics, social, technological, legal and environmental. They can only create the PESTLE after doing research, can you give specific examples of the research they can do? If you want you can go on the net and research what PESTLE analysis looks like and how it is made.

4 Marketing Plans SMART objectives – This is referring to Business targets, this only gets made after the SWOT and PESTLE is done. If certain weaknesses were identified and Nestle became aware of certain outside factors, Nestle would write down some of their targets. Again research is needed to find out where to aim for. The targets are specific, measurable, Achievable, realistic and time specific. What does this mean? Give an example of some SMART objectives a company like Nestle may use and how research has allowed those objectives to come about? If you want you can go on the net and research what SMART objectives look like and how they are formed.
