17 2 Organization This picture shows how benefits works at each stage of physical condition of patients. Firstly, when accident happens, we deliver medical benefits to patients or medical service provider such as hospitals, pharmacists. Also temporary disability benefits are given to them for loss of income while they are under hospitalization or keep outpatient with medically recognized invalidity for labor. Specific amount of temporary disability benefit is 70% of daily average income. In case medical treatment last more than two years and the patient’s invalidity is under required level(grade1-3), temporary disability benefit might turns into injury-disease compensation annuity. In case of foreigners such as migrant workers, they can be paid all the benefits available in lump sum even though their medical treatments do not end when they are determined to depart from Korea. After medical treatment ends, we give permanent disability benefits for the permanent loss of labor in accordance with invalidity grade 1 to 14. They were paid by pension in case of grade 1 to 3 and pension or lump sum is selectable in case of grade 4 to 7. In case of grade 8 to 14, permanent disability benefit is paid in lump sum. Pension is paid monthly until the last day of the month the pensioner’s death date belongs to. Also nursing benefit could be given to patients in need of nursing care. Vocational rehabilitation benefit helps workers to return to work by retraining them, supporting employers’ employment ability. This is the case of injured workers. When their treatment resume in EII, the same rule of benefits also works. In case of death of workers, funeral expenses and survivors benefits are given to each entitled persons. 17 17
