2 MICS4 Survey Design Workshop Background FGM/C violates the rights to life, physical integrity, and health and it is a manifestation of gender discrimination Regulated by CEDAW (1979), CRC (1989), the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights (1981), and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (1990). World Fit for Children (WFFC) End harmful traditional or customary practices, such as early and forced marriage and female genital mutilation, which violates the rights of children and women
