2  Oxygen’s chemical symbol is O and it’s frequently written as O2 and. This is because the oxygen is not chemically combined with anything else; it hangs around with a buddy. Oxygen is been know to be a diatomic molecule. 8

3  Oxygen has a mass number of 16.00 with atomic number 8 which means there are 8 electrons and 8 protons. The number of neutrons is always equal to the mass number- the atomic number Protons: 8 Neutrons: 8 Electrons: 8

4  Oxygen was discovered for the first time by a Swedish chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele in 1772. Joseph Priestly and English chemist independently discovered oxygen in 1774 and published his findings three years before Scheele

5  It’s a clear liquid and no colour as a gas 

6  Oxygen is a non metal but is a astronomy, all heavier elements are classed as metals.

7  It’s in pure or elemental form in the atmosphere, but it coexists with other gases asone component of mixture - so, uncombined oxygen exists in the atmosphere, but the atmosphere is not pure oxygen. There are many compounds of oxygen in nature - oxides. Water is one of these, but many others are ores found in the ground in mines, etc.

8  In a living thing - oxygen is needed to help break down glucose(sugar) and release energy for the living cells of the organism. the chemical process is called cellular respiration. Oxygen is needed for a certain chemical reactions to occur - a flame can only continue to burn if oxygen is provided.

9  Oxygen provides us with 90% of our nutritional energy, with just 10% coming from the food we eat. The more our cells are saturated with stabilized oxygen the lower is the wear and tear that occurs in the body. Hence, oxygen is one of the most important anti-aging substances.  Oxygen’s natural ability to oxidize or catabolise viruses, fungi, and bacteria is vitally important in order to sustain the cells’ natural immortality factor and to prevent degenerative diseases.  Oxygen is also an essential factor for burning up the body’s toxins – those that are generated by us internally as well as those that we get from external sources such as the environment, water, and food – particularly junk food. The lower the content of oxygen, the less ability we have to burn up toxins, to heal, and to fight disease.
