25 NATIONAL TEACHING AWARDS (Continue) §Sponsorship l The WCED managed to secure a sponsorship for the NTA 2005 l The Cambridge University Press in association with South African Youth Development & Business Chamber (SAYDBUC) will sponsor the Western Cape with cash prizes for the 3 finalists per category at Provincial level

29 SAFETY AT SCHOOL –An indaba to discuss ways and means on how to address crime and violence in the Province will be taking place soon. –The initiative is a consultative process to generate recommendations on how to promote safety in schools –Pelrc Task team was once again established : – Evaluate the implementation of the manual – Proposals for any improvements to the manual –Stats as per annual report

34 Education Laws Amendment Bill, 1/2004 §The following amendments are proposed to the following acts: l SASA: South African Schools Act l EEA:Employment of Educators Act l FET: Further Education Act §We will only highlight the significant draft amendments to SASA and the EEA.
