1 Health and Safety in Lecture Theatres Griffith University is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for teaching and learning.

2 Please observe the following Health and Safety obligations whilst in this lecture theatre

3 Lecture Theatre Capacity To avoid over crowding and to reduce inconvenience, please consider the following:

4 Lecture Theatre Capacity Cont’d Do not reserve seats for others; Do not place personal belongings on seats next to you; Do not sit or stand in aisle ways or on stairs; Please fill seats from the centre of each row outwards. N.B. Staff may suspend the lecture if the room is overcrowded.

5 Exits and Aisles Please take a moment to identify the exits; Please ensure that the exits remain accessible; Please do not block aisle ways.

6 In the event of an emergency Leave lecture theatre in an orderly manner when directed by staff and assemble at the nearest emergency assembly point.

7 Trip Hazards Please secure your personal belongings underneath your seat to ensure that they do not pose a trip hazard. Please ensure no electrical cords are left trailing across aisle ways.

8 Mobile Phones Please place your mobile phone on silent or turn it off.

9 No Eating or Drinking

10 No Smoking No smoking in lecture theatres or within five metres of the entrance to the building. Please place cigarette butts in appropriate receptacles.

11 Mt. Gravatt – Designated Smoking Areas

12 Nathan – Designated Smoking Areas

13 General Cleanliness Please do not leave any rubbish in the lecture theatre. Please place rubbish in the bins provided outside of the buildings.

14 Security During breaks do not leave any valuables unattended.
