4 Essay Format Header begins at 1 Title is centered at the top for the 3rd time Check your citations: –“Book” (last name page number). –“Interview” (last name). –“online” (last name) or (“Title”).

5 Essay Format You have seven paragraphs Each body paragraph has three quotes Each body paragraph has three citations (they match the first word from your Works Cited page) You have the minimum of four sources –Interview, book, two more of your choice Topic sentences match Roman Numerals from outline (must be an opinion, not a fact) Letters (A, B and C) match quotes in your essay

6 Works Cited The only sources on this page are the ones used in your 15 quotes Your header continues from essay Works Cited is at the top (no bold, no underline) Entire page is double-spaced Sources are alphabetized by author last name or “title” Second or third lines of a source are indented

7 Introduction-Lead Paragraph Does the lead engage the reader with vivid verbs and sensory details ? Is your thesis at the end of your lead paragraph? There should be no quotes in this paragraph Use the handout for what to include.

8 Conclusion Paragraph All commentary! Have you drawn conclusions? What does your paper prove? How will your person’s legacy effect future generations?

9 Back to Basics No me, my, we, us or I used Contractions are eliminated by writing both words. Numbers are spelled out Check RIP list!
