2. Two Types of Cells  All living things are made of cells.  All cells can be put into two groups: animal cells and plants cells  Plant cells have two parts that animal cells do not: a cell wall and chloroplasts

3. Cell Wall  A cell wall is a protective layer that goes around a cell.  It is very durable and protects the cell.

4. Chloroplasts  Chloroplasts are filled with Chlorophyll, it is why they are green.  The main job of the chloroplasts is to take in sunlight and make food for the plant

5. Cell Membrane  The cell membrane also surrounds the cell.  The membrane makes sure good things stay in and bad things stay out.

6. Cytoplasm  The cytoplasm is the stuff that fills the cell.  It holds all the parts of the cell in place.

7. Nucleus  The nucleus is the “brain” of the cell.  It controls all the other functions of the cell  This is also where the DNA is found

8. Ribosomes  Very small organelles  The ribosomes create proteins for the cell.  Proteins are needed for a organism to live

9. Endoplasmic Reticulum  The ER is a transports system  The ER Transports proteins and nutrients

10. Mitochondria  The Mitochondria powers the cell  It provides energy (ATP) for the cell

11. Lysosomes  Lysosomes digest materials  They break down dead and old organelles.  They get rid of waste

12. Vacuoles  The vacuoles are the storage unit of the cells.  The store different types of material like water.  Plant vacuoles are very large.
