1. 18-11-0007-00-0000 Submission January 2011 Michael Lynch, MJ Lynch & Associates 802.18 RR-TAG ITU-R Update ITU-R WP1A is developing a report on SMART GRID POWER MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS The plan is to complete the report at the WP1A meeting which begins May 25 th As it currently exists the report is unbalanced – it supports PLT/PLC as the only technology suitable for Smart Grid communications An earlier version had some wireless in it but said that any wireless solution is inferior to PLT/PLC

2. 18-11-0007-00-0000 Submission November 2010 Michael Lynch, MJ Lynch & Associates 802.18 RR-TAG ITU-R Update The good news is that at their last 2010 meeting WP1A removed the section saying that wireless is inferior to PLT/PLC The bad news is there isnt any description of any wireless technologies suitable for Smart Grid communications 802.18 is proposing that the wireless WGs edit the document to provide positive input on the capabilities of wireless technologies This work should start at this meeting and must be completed by the end of the March plenary
