CHALLENGES FACING THE TEACHING OF SCIENCE: -Some misconceptions/ wrong attitudes : production jobs like brick making are considered for failures, degrees and certificates matter more than production, girls are not meant for Science, science is for whites and very difficult -Schooling without production -Noninvolvement of the Environment in the teaching and learning process. -Failure to integrate the existing world of science into the school system -Emphasis on Examinations rather than learning and transformation -Few Science Teachers and misuse of the few ( Mungopacking) -Un assertive scientists/ engineers -Ill equipped teacher:

SOLUTIONS -Continue popularizing Government programs -Document existing science and technology programs or activities from outside and inside formal school -Show the above programs popularly for mass appreciation -Create Science Centers -Arrange Science Fairs- quote NCS&T+ LOGEL PROJECT -Mount science and technology Exhibitions Quote NCS&T -Examine and adjust the training of the teacher(Quote findings on inappropriateness about the teacher in TOP SECRETS OF EDUCATING YOUR CHILD, Famecon 2009 page 108) -Open popular universal sensitization and training of the population
