2 What does multilingual and multimedia archeological web forum means? Forum = A place where people state their opinions. Web = Uses internet based communications. Archeological = The forum contains articles about archeological sites and findings. Multimedia = The articles contain pictures and flash animations. Multilingual = Provides multi language translation for the articles and the interface itself. General 1/2

3 What are the benefits with this forum? Authors/archeologists can post their findings as easy as writing a word document. The post is immediately published for all to see and gets translated in a matter of hours. Translators can help with the creation of the first dictionary of archeological terms to be used by the auto translate function. The vast amount of archeological data to be stored and translated in a single database. Users can access archeological data a lot easier. But lets start the presentation  General 2/2

4 Users index This is the first page of the forum. Everyone can see it. The important parts of this page are : The left menu with the navigation options. –The dropdown with the interface languages. –Home: returns to the default page. –About us: shows information and help. –Contact: brings up a form to contact the administrator. –Login: displays the log in the system page. The search bar. –Search for a word or phrase in the title or the content of an article. The forum. Each article in the forum has the following actions: Click on the title to view the whole thread. Click on the show button to view a popup with the whole article. Click on a flag to view the translation.

11 Authors index This page is like the user index with the following additions: The left menu has the manage account link that enable the authors to manage their personal data and the login link has changed to logout. The dropdown now has only the languages that the author speaks and can write. The forum has a new button called “add new thread” which navigates him to the compose page. All the other functions remain the same.

16 Translators index With the same process we can log in as translators. This page is like the user index with the following additions: The left menu has the manage account link that enable the translators to manage their personal data and the login link has changed to logout. Also three new link have appeared the “view untranslated” and the “view pending translations” which fill the forum with the appropriate articles and the “manage dictionary” which navigates to the dictionary page. The dropdown now has only the languages that the translator can translate. The articles of the forum has two new buttons called “translate” which navigates him to the translate page and “check” which navigates him to the check translate page. All the other functions remain the same.

17 Translators index The translate button is only visible if the article has not been translated in at least one of the translator languages or the translation for those languages has not been approved. The check translation button is only visible if the translations of the article have not been approved in at least one of the translator languages and they are not his translations.

27 Administrators index With the same process we can log in as administrator. This page is like the author and the translator together, with the following additions: The left menu has the manage users link that enable the administrator to manage all the user personal data. Also the “manage Languages” link has appeared which navigate to the manage languages page. The contact link has vanished because it is not needed. The dropdown now has all the languages. There are no explaining labels. All the other functions remain the same.
