Contentment Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 Assistant pastor Teddy Chang November 23, 2014

I.Hebrews 13:5 meaning “Be content with such things as ye have” means we(believers)should be our trust and confidence in God that we should be satisfied… God knows what we need. He says, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Our trust should be in God for providing us daily.

II.The following examples illustrate how to understand about the contentment Learning a talk between two or more people in which people ask questions, exchange news, etc: - Rich preacher and poor preacher. - Rich woman and poor woman. - Wild animals and domestic animals. - Look up to dictionaries about contentment meaning. -Reading Christian quotations.

III. The birds of the air refers to Matthew 6:26 applying for our daily life “Behold the fowls(birds) of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” Matthew 6:25: “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought (not worry)for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” To worry means we don’t trust God.

Your heavenly Father feedeth them(birds) in 26 verse refers to our true contentment because God provides for us daily. Matthew 6:33: “ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” We should follow God’s righteousness so He will provide for us through our trust.

IV. Christian Quotations: Riches are not from an abundance of worldly goods but from a content much. Contentment isn’t getting what we want but being satisfied with what we already have. CONTENTMENT OVER COVETOUSNESS Hebrews 13:5-6

V. Be content should overcome anxiety in Christ Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1Peter5:7
