Monotheism-the belief in one god. All of these are monotheistic. Symbol - cross Islam ***Founder – Muhammad ***Deity – Allah ***Holy book – Koran Basic beliefs: Allah is supreme and ultimate creator and Muhammad is his prophet Holiest city – Mecca Followers are called – Muslims Symbol – crescent and star Judaism **Founder – Abraham **Deity – God **Holy Book – Hebrew Bible Basic Beliefs – God is the creator and ruler of the universe Holiest city – Jerusalem Holiest site – Western Wall Symbol – six pointed star of David

Hinduism is polytheistic. ***Founder – no known founder ***Deities: Thousands of gods. ***Holy book – Vedas Basic Beliefs – Hindus believe in reincarnation (the cycle of death and rebirth) To attain a higher form of life, they must live well in this life (dharma) How they worship – Hindus also build shrines in their homes to worship gods of their choice.
