2. Activity Objectives In this exercise, you will get to practise  Design sketching  Orthographic projective drawing  Styrofoam cutting

3. Step 1 – Idea Sketch Design and draw at least 3 concepts for a duo-purpose (handheld / free-standing) flash-light Outline drawing in perspective view One design per A4 page Product features written neatly on the page Sign and date your drawings Take no more than 10 minutes for each design

4. Step 2 – Package Drawing Select one of your design, further develop it so that it fits the following specification  Total size not bigger than the foam block provided  Contain 2 D-size batteries (34.2 dia. X 61.5 h)  Contain 1 cone reflector (50 dia. X 20 dia. X 30 h) Draw in full-size the front, side, top views Show the batteries and reflector in your views Use separate A4 paper for each view if necessary Take no more than 15 minutes

5. Step 3 – Mock-up Glue the projective views to the sides of the Styrofoam block provided Sculpt your design with cutter Modify the form until you are satisfied Take no more than 30 minutes Beware of sharp cutter blade Keep your workplace tidy

6. Step 4 – Final Design Use your foam model as a reference Further develop your design and produce an outline drawing with 2 perspective views Product features written neatly on the page Sign and date your drawings Take no more than 10 minutes

7. Discussion Did you modify your design between  Your idea sketches and package drawing?  Your package drawing and mock-up?  Your mock-up and final design?
