WHAT IS THE ROLE ? The nervous system is a complex collection of nerves and special cells known as neurons that transmit signals between different parts of the body. The nervous system allows humans to think, feel emotion, and react to things. It also controls movements by the skeleton and muscles.

THE DISEASES FOR THE NERVOUS SYSTEM Problems that can affect the brain include: Brain tumors. A brain tumor is an abnormal tissue growth in the brain. A tumor in the brain may grow slowly and produce few symptoms until it becomes large, or it can grow and spread rapidly, causing severe and quickly worsening symptoms. Brain tumors in children can be benign or malignant. Benign tumors usually grow in one place and may be curable through surgery if they're located in a place where they can be removed without damaging the normal tissue near the tumor.brain tumor Headaches. Strong tension pain in the head, neck, and shoulders. Mental disorders. If the brain doesn’t grow right or has problems, it can cause mental disorders like cerebral palsy and down syndrome. Epilepsy. Problems with nerves in the brain cause seizures.

HOW TO KEEP NERVOUS SYSTEM HEALTHY Exercise regularly. Talk to your doctor about an exercise plan that will be right for you. Do not smoke or use other tobacco products. For more information, see the topic Quitting Smoking. Get plenty of rest. Take care of health conditions that may cause decreased nervous system functioning, such as:
